Installation of Officers in the Grange is an important demonstration of Grange values. The ceremony sheds light on the positions in the Order to those who are interested in the pomp of the opening and closing of our meetings. This ceremony has been conducted in our hall since 1902.
People interested in the Grange are welcome to attend!
From Western Wahkiakum, over the Lower Columbia. Happy Holidays from the Grays River Grange! Thanks to everyone who came to the party, and all the folks who helped make it another wonderful year!
This last August Grange Master Krist Novoselic, Lecturer Bob Pyle and Grange Brother Ray Prestegard performed a show at our Grange, “Butterfly Launches From Spar Pole”. It featured Krist on guitar, Bob reading poetry, and Ray accompanying. Pictures provided by Grange Brother Sol Mertz, courtesy of Rose Creek Arts.
The Grays River Grange is proud to announce that our “Accountability for the Washington State Redistricting Commission” resolution placed before the State Grange delegates this year passed, and will now be part of our Legislative doctrine.
The resolution, crafted by Master Novoselic, calls for increased accountability and transparency for the Washington State Redistricting Commission. It asks the Washington State Auditor to conduct an audit of the Commission in a timely manner, providing the Legislature with the opportunity to review before the vote. Separate from other auditing processes, it allows the auditor the ability to seek injunction directly challenging any redistricting plan if any rules or laws were broken or ignored by the Commission.
Thank you Master Novoselic for all your electoral reform work and continuing the Granger traditions of an active citizenry, engaged in moving government to greater ethics!
Join some of your fellow Grangers and other interested citizens this Wednesday, September 2nd, from 6:30-8pm, at the Naselle Library meeting room. We’ll be further discussing our seismic situation and preparation, in addition to gearing up for the Great Washington ShakeOut!
Friends and members of the Grays River Grange are meeting at the Naselle Library on Wednesday, August 5th, 7-8pm to talk about creating a group (or multiple groups) supporting people in preparing their families and homes for an earthquake. This will not be a prep class, but a visioning meeting to discuss putting together support groups for on-going discussion and planning. If you’d like to be involved in strengthening your community, meet us at the library at 7pm next Wednesday!
