{"id":538,"date":"2016-04-20T16:56:51","date_gmt":"2016-04-20T16:56:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/graysrivergrange.org\/?p=538"},"modified":"2016-04-20T17:17:45","modified_gmt":"2016-04-20T17:17:45","slug":"county-shoreline-management-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/graysrivergrange.org\/?p=538","title":{"rendered":"County Shoreline Master Program Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our County has been in the process of updating the Wahkiakum Shoreline Master Program, and we encourage agricultural, fishing and tourist industry folks to stay involved, provide input and guidance, \u00a0and find out how this law may affect your community.<\/p>\n<p>Follow this link to the County documents<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/sh\/ocrnkg13m83dt03\/AABqHpnhVHCXkflC-ROztYJsa?dl=0\">Wahkiakum Shoreline Master Program<\/a><\/p>\n<p>From the Final Draft SMP:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">&#8220;Public\u00a0 participation\u00a0 is\u00a0 important\u00a0 because it ensures\u00a0 that\u00a0 local\u00a0 knowledge\u00a0 and\u00a0 values\u00a0 form\u00a0 a basis\u00a0 for\u00a0 SMP\u00a0 policies\u00a0 and\u00a0 regulations.\u00a0 The\u00a0 Shoreline\u00a0 Master\u00a0 Program\u00a0 public\u00a0 participation process is ongoing.\u00a0 A public participation plan completed in the early stages of the SMP update process guides public participation opportunities during the SMP update.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Public hearings for formal consideration by Town and County Planning Commissions and adoption by legislative bodies are anticipated in spring 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Wahkiakum County\u2019s and Town of Cathlamet\u2019s home internet pages provide links to SMP planning documents, to notices of public meetings and meeting materials. Public meetings are also advertised in the Wahkiakum County Eagle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<div id=\"pageContainer13\" data-loaded=\"true\" data-page-number=\"13\">\n<div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"55.47886754901961\">The Shoreline Advisory\u00a0 Committee,\u00a0 comprised\u00a0 of\u00a0 citizen\u00a0 and\u00a0 technical\u00a0 stakeholders, informed the Inventory and Characterization Report, and will continue to inform the remainder of the SMP update\u00a0 process,\u00a0 providing\u00a0 feedback\u00a0 on\u00a0 the\u00a0 process\u00a0 itself,\u00a0 and\u00a0 on\u00a0 the\u00a0 draft\u00a0 SMP\u00a0 policies\u00a0 and regulations.<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"912.1072364705883\">Three\u00a0 visioning\u00a0 workshops\u00a0 were\u00a0 hosted\u00a0 in\u00a0 February\u00a0 and\u00a0 March\u00a0 2015,\u00a0 where\u00a0 community members\u00a0 provided\u00a0 guidance\u00a0 to\u00a0 the\u00a0 planning\u00a0 team.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A\u00a0 summary\u00a0 of\u00a0 the\u00a0 Visioning\u00a0 Workshops\u00a0 is<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"591.5630550000001\">provided\u00a0 in\u00a0 the\u00a0 Visioning\u00a0 Workshop\u00a0 Summary \u2013March\u00a0 2015.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\" data-canvas-width=\"591.5630550000001\"><\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"378.9834911764706\">These\u00a0 workshops,\u00a0 along\u00a0 with guidance received from several public SAC meetings and at two additional public open houses in July and August 2015 informed preliminary Drafts of the Shoreline Master Program (Drafts 1, 2\u00a0 and\u00a0 3).\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0 Draft\u00a0 3\u00a0 SMP\u00a0 was\u00a0 circulated\u00a0 to\u00a0 the\u00a0 public\u00a0 in\u00a0 late\u00a0 September\u00a0 and\u00a0 early\u00a0October<\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"1186.7526138235291\">2015.\u00a0 Thereafter, from October 2015 through February 2016, the Town Planning Commission and County Planning Commission held several public meetings to guide SMP revisions included in\u00a0 the\u00a0 Final\u00a0 Draft\u00a0 SMP\u00a0 issued\u00a0 in\u00a0 late\u00a0 March\u00a0 2016.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our County has been in the process of updating the Wahkiakum Shoreline Master Program, and we encourage agricultural, fishing and tourist industry folks to stay involved, provide input and guidance, \u00a0and find out how this law may affect your community.
